5.7.5.11 or 5.8.1 (Or 5.8.2)

I am about to migrate my site to 5.7 or 5.8. I will start with a new install, recreate my theme, page types and custom blocks in the new site and then use the migration tool to move the content. I have run across a few posts that make me think that version 5.8 is still buggy. Should I install 5.7.5.11 or 5.8.1 -- OR wait until 5.8.2 is released? Any opinions?

I also understand that the master migration tool works with 5.8.2. I believe I need to use this version of the tool to migrate content for pages using custom blocks. Is this correct or does the 5.7.5.x migration tool handle content for custom blocks?

Any eta for version 5.8.2?

Thank you.

You don't have to migrate, you can simply upgrade from 5.7.13 to 8.1.0.
If you're on 5.7.11 make sure you upgrade to 5.7.13 first, then do an upgrade to 8.1.0.

Make a complete backup from your database and files! Because this update does not always finish right, 8.1 is a bit buggy.

But 8.2 makes good progress and it shouldn't be too long before it will be available.
I have a testsite running 8.2.0a2, it runs much more stable then 8.1.0.

Sorry if I was not clear. I am currently running 5.6 and would like to recreate my site in 5.7 or 5.8. I would first rebuild my blocks, theme and pages in the new system and then migrate the data. Ergo my questions regarding if I should go with 5.7.x or 5.8.1 and which versions of the migration tool are able to move content from custom blocks.

Thanks for the information on 8.2 . Good to hear that 5.8.2 is close at hand and appears to be stable.
