Admin bar & menus missing

Hi,

I'm trying to take a custom website layout / theme that i've created and integrate it into Concrete 5 (using version 5.7.5.9)

My starting point was to follow this tutorial-

http://documentation.concrete5.org/developers/designing-for-concret...

However, up to 17 mins in and I notice the admin bar on the site and all the admin menu items are completely missing, there's nothing there at all apart from my web page. I've found many threads with people experiencing the same problems but going round in circles since yesterday.

This is my 2nd attempt at trying to get Concrete 5 to work since I last tried it over a year ago, but unfortunately at that time, the project was cancelled and I never got the opportunity to pick it up again. As i understand it, as a guess, none of the menu items appear in the admin / login area due to conflicts with either my css/ js or both.

Any pointers or help would be greatly appreciated, i'd really like to see this work :)

Update, sorry, the menu items and admin bar etc. does appear. It's when clicking on any of them that when they fly out, the menu items inside are missing, they're completely blank

a js conflict error would be my guess too.
Do you see any error in your browsers console ? (firebug, webdeveloper...)

There's no errors at all in Chrome
