block wrapper w/ opt-out

here's a doozey for you. I'm looking to wrap all blocks in an area w/ a certain wrapper class. Easy enough, just use: $area->setBlockWrapperStart()
But here's the catch.
I'd like to be able to either by custom template or giving the block a design style or something, opt out of that wrapper on occasion... any thoughts?
