C5 Loading Speed Issues (HOSTING??)

Slow Loading Issues.

Hi all,
I have a love hate relationship with C5. :)
I love C5 for its ease of use, polished looks and its potential power (feature-set). However, I have tried just about every trick posted on the forums, which can be performed by a non-programmer like me, without any luck whatsoever. My pages still take 20- 45 seconds (some times longer) to load.
I hate the fact that it takes toooo looong to load each page.

So I am starting to believe that "the problem" might be my "Shared-Hosting" account from Powweb.com...

With that said, does anyone have any recommendations as to any decent (and moderately priced) hosting service to use for C5?
Q: Does C5 requires a dedicated server for it to function properly?
Q: Is anyone running a zippy C5 site from a shared hosting account, and with what company?

Thanks Guys.

Hi,

To be honest the old saying "you get what you pay for" holds true with web hosting too, the problem with cheap shared hosting is usually the amount of people they stuff onto their MySql servers, you get a few MySql hogs on your cluster and your soon going to see performance taking a nose dive.

Q: Does C5 requires a dedicated server for it to function properly?

Nope, I have always used shared hosting, yes I have paid a little extra to get good quality hosting, but you definitely dont "need" dedicated servers.

I have a Business plan with 1 and 1, and its never given me any problems, there are a ton of decent hosts out there, but budget hosting is a bit like budget anything else, if the price seems too good to be true then it probably is.

Thank you for your reply, Vidall. I will be looking into the hosting you suggested.

I agree with Vidall. You get what you pay for. I'm frequently amazed by the people who's website is an important part of their business presence, and yet have a problem paying more than $4 / month with GoDaddy or the like.

Personally, I find that you have to pay > $5 - 8 / month for decent performance.

I've been generally happy with Dreamhost shared. I've been running a benchmark test on Arvixe (which has explicit c5 support) and it's been consistently screaming. Like, faster than many dedicated hosts. I might have gotten lucky with my neighbors, but they do offer a free trial.

Can you provide a link to the free trial? I am looking to move from ReadyHosting. Arvixe sounds interesting.
