Changing Page Types

I only seem to be able to select a Left Nav Bar or Full Width page type on my pages. When selecting right sidebar or multiple body items page types it does not seem to change the page type to either of those types. What am I missing. I'm using the green salad theme.

The way C5 works, page types _can_ equal various templates in your theme, but they don't always have to. That's kind of the case here. If you open up greensalad/ you'll see that there is no left_sidebar.php or right_sidebar.php (this theme doesn't provide them).

So what does that mean when you select those? That means that the green salad them loads the "default.php" template, which is a sidebar on the left.

I agree, it's a bit confusing to still be _able_ select page types when you don't have templates for them...however there are a lot of times when we've found that useful.

This is CRAP!! The problem is with the excessive upgrades you guys do and don't keep the previous good things from going south. In ver. 5.3.3.1 I had a home page with theme GreenSalad with a right sidebar. When I upgraded to 5.4.0.5 the page went left sidebar and clicking on right sidebar to change page type don't do squat! The right side bar was wider than the left sidebar is now so now my text, graphics, etc. is all scrunched up! This is just the tip of the iceberg of troubles I've encountered since upgrading. It's come to the point I'm getting off C5 as quick as I can!!

@gunner38555: The way to create a right sidebar theme in Green Salad is to copy the Green Salad theme to the <root>/themes/greensalad directory. Then, copy left_sidebar.php to right_sidebar.php and edit right_sidebar.php to have "right side" things in it (see another theme for an example of right_sidebar.php).

If there is an upgrade, it won't overwrite your customized theme, because your theme is in your local site themes directory. Your theme will take precedence over the core Green Salad theme.

It sounds like you didn't do the steps above. Feel free to ask how to accomplish something in C5 if you don't know how to do it. There are many people who are glad to help.

I copied concrete/themes/greensalad to <root>/themes/greensalad OK. But can’t locate left_sidebar.php or right_sidebar.php files. The only php files in the folder are default, full, home, and view. Where are the sidebar files located?
