Filter Express entry list with topic list

Can express entry list be filtered by topic list? It doesn't have the option of enable other block to filter the block result like page list does.
Referring to this page, it does say "Filter the list the same way you would for custom attributes in a page list"

Can I get the code from page list controller and mess with it to make it work? Which portion?
