How to Change Ecommerce Email Receipt

I am looking to change what the email receipt says once someone purchases. I have changed the receipt.php file but it always gives me errors and says they are effecting the controller.php in the payments folder.
I am trying to delete the shipping area form the receipt that the customer gets.
What is the easiest way to change what this email displays?
