IE8 and media queries

Hello,
I did not find anything about this topic on the forum.
So my question is: I tried to add
(I usually add it to html sites and have no troubles). However, once I add it to Concrete5 site IE8 simply freezes and nothing helps but force it to quit.
Is there any solution with media queries for IE8? Or may be I need to place this script in some specific part of the theme (I tried header, footer–nothing helps). Or maybe I should try another script? Thank you in advance!
