Image block in Composer

I've seen a couple of threads about this issue on the forum but non that explains the problem, or solves it.

When you set up a page type to be used in Composer you can add text and so on. But when you want to add the image block you get stuck, cause you can't add an empty image block because of the validation that you have to have an image in the block.

The you have the templates for the image block that is close related to Composer. "Header" & "Thumbnail". But you can't choose a template without an image in the block.

It should be rater simple and not involve code hacking as it works on the sample contents.
So how do you get the Image block to show up in Composer without an image inside?

The way I got around this was to add an image block created with the 'Designer Content' block builder add-on. This doesn't require an image to be linked in.

Hope this helps!

That worked!

But the image is re-sized and re-compressed when I do this.

Went through the block code and I guess Designer Content automatically compresses the image even though I choose "Keep original size" when I made the block.

Hi, glad to hear it is has worked (sort of!). I think I just set a maximum width and height and let the block do the work.
