Multiple Users & the File Manager

The file manager is a great tool inside concrete5. I've recently opened up the ability for all of my users to upload their own files. This creates a problem because there are loads of files not in any sets and everyone has access to everyone's files. It has quickly spun out of control and is very cluttered.

Does anyone have a good way of automatically creating user "file sets" so when a user is created they get their own "file set"? It would also have to be done in a way that they couldn't see anyone else's file sets and they also could only upload to their own file set.

Any advice & help is much appreciate. Thanks in advance.

I think you should set your users into a group for which you can handle their file manager permissions.

Go to system & settings => Permissions & Access => File Manager Permissions.

There you should set the permissions for your users group only for "mine" files.

Or did you need something more complex?

I've given "customers" access to "View Files", "Search Files in File Manager" and "Add Files".

Is there a way to configure from this screen what I am requesting?

Yeah, but just set the configurations on that to "Mine" instead of "Yes", so that they won't see/be able to edit other files than the ones they've uploaded themselves.

But if you want the same files to be visible for all the users in that group instead of them seeing just their own files, I think in that situation your own suggestion (file sets) would be probably better...

I do not see a "mine". Screenshot attached.

I may have failed to mention: I am on Concrete5 v5.5 with Advanced Permissions enabled.

I found this old thread when I was looking for a solution for this problem. In newer versions of concrete5 it's done like this:
