Shared File Manager files across different concrete5 websites

I've got a project involving multiple websites all built with concrete5.

One of the requirements is that all of these websites will be able to have some files in common inside their file managers.

For example: site A and site B are two standalone concrete5 websites.
Site A has 50 files, and Site B has 20 files.

However, let's say that both sites have 10 identical files in common. Rather than have duplicates for both sites, is there any way to have it so that those 10 files are "synced up" with each other. So that if site A updates one of those files, site B updates that file as well?

I've had a brief look at the "File Storage Location" stuff found here:
https://documentation.concrete5.org/developers/working-with-files-an...

It looks like this - in conjunction with the AWS package that ties into it - means that multiple sites could pull the same some files from a shared remote "folder".

Does this sound like I'm on the right path, or would this sort of thing be a new feature to build from scratch?

You should come over the slack channels and ask there. The whole core team hangs out there as well as most high-level C5 devs and plenty of questions like this one get answered faster.
