Topics, Tags, or both (for Blog). Suggestions wanted

I (and I suspect others) would really appreciate any input, suggestions, examples, etc. on setting up a robust blog with core 5.7+ functionality. Specifically, using the Topics functionality & block, or the Tags functionality & block, or what I'm in particular hoping for is discussion on using both. For all it's shortcomings, Wordpress is a great blogging platform, and it has both categories, and tags.

I've set up and followed using topics from the tutorials/demo's etc. And the documentation discusses each, and their similarities (and how at least one difference is " topics allows you to create a hierarchy of categories to sort your pages as well"). However, I don't yet have (or haven';t seen) anything really discussing using the two together.

Doesn't it make sense to use Topics like Categories in Wordpress, and tags like tags?
I can't be the only one thinking this, but I'm just not sure that's how Topics and Tags in C5 was designed. Can it be set up to do the same thing, or similar, or maybe even better? If so, how should it be set up?

A great place to start is the video by C5DK:

I'm also trying to get my mind around tags and topics, and how to make the best use of both.
