Too tied down

I am finding C5 very frustrating because although it supports groups, its still only Administrators that can do things. Normal users still cannot change their own password and only Administrators can use the file manager, meaning that although they might be able to add a page, they can't even add an image or PDF to it. I do not want to make all of my users Administrators because they could then make a mess of my custom blocks.

Later...
I've found a way of allowing a group of users access to the File Manager. However, "normal" users still don't appear to be able to change their password.

In the page properties and permissions, you should be able to do all your trying to do.

I can certainly allow a group to edit a page that way, but File Manager is controlled through the Dashboard (solved that problem) and I can't see anything about users being able to change their password - I was sure that was coming in 5.3

make sure advanced permissions are on first of all.

then goto the site map and look for the check box in the lower right that lets you turn on single pages. This should display all the dashboard pages in the site map so you can set permissions on them how you choose.

OK, have enabled Advanced Permissions, and can see the 'Show System Pages' checkbox, and see that I can change permissions on certain pages. But are you basically saying that in order to allow a non-admin user simply to change their password, they have to be allowed to see the entire Dashboard? I really hope that is not the case.

Now its getting seriously bad: logging in as Admin, now I cannot see any of the left-side menu in the Dashboard, so I cannot make any changes at all. Doesn't matter whether Advanced Permissions is enabled. What the hell is going on?! How do I fix this?
