Why No Default Dropdown Menu with C5?

I am new to C5, and not quite sure why it doesn't come with a built in default dropdown menu, maybe jquery powered - like many wordpress themes have. 99% of websites use a formal horizontal or vertical primary navbar. The absence of this means extra work for themers and confusion for newbs. Wouldn't it be so much easier to simply have this feature installed, with an option to disable?
C5 is awesome but this is a definite minus.
I just don't get it!!

There is a paid addon in the marketplace that does this:

I agree that it would be nice if the built-in themes included a dropdown menu, but I don't think it's that important because if you're designing a website the menu is part of the design itself (because they always need to look different and sometimes function differently -- e.g. drop-down, slide-out, horizontal/vertical, etc.).
If I were not building the design and the theme myself but instead were downloading or purchasing it from the marketplace, I'd definitely check to see if they include a dropdown menu if that was one of my requirements and only purchase it if it had one.

Thanks Jordanlev,
I agree half way with you. But the core C5 installation should have a fully functional drop-down horizontal or vertical navbar that can pull from the database. C5 is so awesome. The guys could do this in their sleep. So why must WE all go through this wall of confusion: i see many questions on the forums relating to getting a navbar dropdown implemented. Why should i have to buy from the marketplace? Many dropdown scripts are GPL anyway. Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal and many more have this feature. Theming would also be easier.
Thanks for your reply but..i still don't get it. I wonder what Franz would say?

I may be wrong here, but in my experience it's not so easy to just include a dropdown menu because it's so wrapped up in the particular style of the theme.
Again, though, it would be cool if it was somehow possible. C5 is open source, if you feel strongly about it and have the technical skills, you could always submit this as a contribution to the core code :)

It would be nice, but there are so many drop down menu scripts. I used a very sile block template for the autonav to get the effect for some time. If you do a search in the forum I'm sure you'll find some code examples.
But for a more comprehensive and flexible solution there is a mega menu add-on in the marketplace. Considering the hours and hours of programming you get for just $15 it's well worth the investment.

Yes, Megamenu add-on is one of the most premium auto-nav solutions you could get and also a great deal for such a low price.
