Best shared server hosting company that supports C5

Permalink 2 users found helpful
Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could share their opinion on the best shared server company that supports Concrete5? We currently have some sites hosted on GoDaddy but that's been problematic in regards to just installing C5 so we're looking for other options.

Thanks in advance for your help!

First - you should look into C5's hosting program. They obviously are going to be the best service and support providers.

But - I have 5 concrete5 installs that have all worked really well and have upgraded to new versions without a hitch at: "JustHost" unlimited service plan runs about $4.00 per month.

For stability and reliability (and to score some brownie points) I'd have to recommend c5 Hosting. However...

If you're on a limited budget than I'd agree that JustHost is probably one of the cheapest you can find. I host around 6 concrete5 sites with them, and I don't have many issues at all. Even if something comes up, they have great support for such cheap hosting.

Shameless plug, use this link if you want to check out JustHost, please (it's my affiliate link):http://bit.ly/c5justhost

Thanks guys! I will check out JustHost.

How about Pair, Bluehost, or A2 Hosting? Anyone have any experience with these hosting companies in terms of shared servers?

We use Bluehost and are very happy with the price, service and support.

It's a shared server and NOT a dedicated server?

Your welcome. Bluehost has some cool auto-install/update scripts for c5 in "software/services/simple scripts" and they work well.

Thanks so much nteaviation! I went with BlueHost and loving it! I was able to set up C5 with just the click of a button, which was sooo helpful and easy! Thanks again!

I currently have GoDaddy hosting, and after getting C5 installed, am realizing how stinkin' slow GoDaddy is... I'm looking at moving over to JustHost, as I can't really afford the C5 hosting. JustHost looks like a great solution, I just wanted some feedback as to their page load times. Is it faster than the 10+ seconds that I'm facing on GoDaddy? Thanks.

To host a website designed by Concrete5, as an experienced webmaster I recommend BH which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for Concrete5 hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

I just moved to Pacifichost.com. I'm guessing they're not the 'best' in terms of speed (see my site:http://www.aidwebsolutions.com)... but they're very cheap (use coupons), offer add-on domains even on their cheapest hosting option and don't require tweaks to get 'pretty urls' to work in C5.

The only issues I had so far was that my IP address got blocked by their firewall twice (the 1st time, apparently due to hundreds of open FTP connections; I don't know the cause of the 2nd incident).

I've been using Bluehost for a number of years. They've been quite good, especially for the price. Right now I have five sites running on one account, and they run quite well.

Hard to beat the price.

I agree that if you have a limited burdget that JustHost seems to be an ideal option. but i don't have good experiences with JustHost. I prefer IX Webhostings' shared hosting services, they aren't as cheap as JustHost but you get way better value for money. I'd go with them, 'cause the cheapest aren't always the best.

If you are in need of shared or VPS-optimized Concrete5 hosting in...

1) New Zealand
2) Australia
3) United Kingdom

...We've got active servers in those regions, serving nearly 200 Concrete5 sites in a fast *I love the performance* manner.

Happy to offer a special rate to those who are after hosting in those services and mention finding Full Flavour Media on here.

ixwebhosting does bait and switch. They say unlimited disk space but once I got to too much space for them they pulled the plug on me unless I switch to dedicated server or drop down to less than 20 GB space. I had few simultaneous users and little bandwidth used - only disk space. They canceled my account right after I prepaid $175 for one year and wouldn't give a refund. Dreamhost is excellent.

By the way, siteground is the worst ISP I have worked with for "bait and switch":http://www.siteground.com/concrete5-hosting.htm... - Don't trust them for siteground.

We have been a satisfied bluehost client for 2 years (http://www.ebizroi.com) and host several client websites on bluehost. Recenetly we tested Concrete5 on a number of shared hosting accounts including Fat Cow, GoDaddy, HostMonster, Network Solutions, and Bluehost.

Our Concrete5 tests found Bluehost was only on of two shared hosting providers that servered standard (sample content) Concrete5 pages in under 2 seconds consistently. GoDaddy performed worst with 10+ second load times during all testing periods.

Bluehost was the fastest and most reliable. The fact that bluehost has simple scripts with one click install of Concrete5 is a bonus.

Shameless plug:http://www.bluehost.com/track/ebizroi... (our Blue Host affiliate link. Blue host is the only hosting provider we currentl recommend to our shared hosting clients.

I moved off bluehost because they were very (extremely!) slow for me.
I now rent my own managed server at liquidweb.com.
No server sharing anymore! :-D
liquidweb.com's support is truly fantastic, too. Nearly zero wait times for 24/7 support on email, chat, or phone, and succinct and effective responses to any problems I have.
Of course it costs about $2500 a year, but a whole server pays for itself pretty quick, with hosting and websites and all. They were named one of the fastest growing companies recently too, if I am remembering correctly.

oops. I just saw you said "shared". My bad. Please disregard my previous post.

DreamHost has been good. I have been using them with C5 about six months. Low price, lots of One Click install software, good support. Only bad thing is their web mail system sucks (client).

I've had very good luck with Host Monster for shared services. They don't have one click install but load times have been very good.
