Concrete5 Install stuck on "Beginning Installation"

Hi everyone,

I'm installing concrete5 on my host and I've made a database, username, etc, I click on Install, but it just hangs on "Beginning Installation" and the disc just keeps spinning. Refreshing the page does nothing, and still just hangs on that.

Is this a database problem? What should I do?

Also I just noticed my hosting package is only 50mb, is this the problem? Do I need more than 50mb to install concrete5?

Thanks heaps for any help offered!

Doesn't sound like a DB problem, because that would show up immediately. 50MB is not much, and you will most likely fill that very soon, but it should be enough to install. I have a freshly installed 5.5.2.1 site, which is taking 39MB and the database 2.5M.

Assuming you have nothing else on the account you should be able to install.

Hi,

I would also like to indicate, I have had the same issue with the installer hanging. The installer hangs on database creation.

Running WAMP stack at (uservalidationhashes).
Then progress bar gets stuck at Dashboard.

I have also had problems with hanging when installing Concrete5 5.5.2.1 from a fresh installation. A couple of months back I found a suggestion on the CC5 forums to install to the latest version in the following way.

Its not ideal as it would be less work to install from a fresh copy of the latest version, but so far the following has worked ok for me.

*** This part below is optional, it just helps me to remember my password.

Login to php myadmin
Create a database
Create a user for database if required (user name & Password)

Upload a copy of the older version of concrete5 (concrete5 5.4) to your ISP/local host folder (for WAMP).

Run the installation:

Fill in the following:

Website name
email address
Server Name (localhost for wamp)
MySQL Username
MySQL Password
Database Name (name of database you created in myphp above)

Check/uncheck sample content box

Click install

When completed click continue to your site:

***Click dashboard, then click Users and Groups from the menu on the left

***Click on the user you have set up, then click edit user button (top right)

***Change password to what you desire, then click the update user button

Unzip concrete5.5.2.1 and upload it to your concrete 5.4 updates folder

Go back into the dashboard and click on System & Maintenance from the menu on the left

Now click the update button (top centre)

You should see the following:

Install Local Update
Make sure you backup your database before updating.

An update is available. Click below to update to 5.5.2.1

Click the update button.

All being well CC5 should update to 5.5.2.1

Hope this helps.
