Concrete5 version 8 and Hostgator

While HostGator says they support Concrete5, its the old version of Concrete5 that gets installed with "one-click", which is pretty lame. If you try to install version 8.1.0 manually you will get the following error:

An exception occurred while executing 'insert into Features (feHandle, feScore, feHasCustomClass, pkgID) values (?, ?, ?, ?)' with params ["title", "1", 0, 0]: SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1062 Duplicate entry 'title' for key 'feHandle'.

This is a fresh install with a blank database with no existing tables.

I didn't get this error on my local MAMP instance. Unfortunately, I'm not going to use MAMP to run a production website.

I'm giving up on the latest version of Concrete5 every time I try to install it, I get one error or another. I've torn my hair out for 4 hours. It took me 45 seconds to manually install SilverStripe on the same host. I wanted to like C5, but I need a competent CMS, not something to trouble-shoot.

That stinks. I sucessfully ran Concrete5 8.1 on Hostgator Business Cloud for three months. I just attempted (yesterday) to start from scratch to have a fresh setup and that was a mistake.

Now I cannot complete the install. It appears to stall at dbtable 249 or 250 for me.

Well, you're not alone. Unfortunately, time is money and I don't have time to spend trouble-shooting. I need things to work for clients. I need things to install quickly and easily. I figured I would simply save people the trouble.

Sorry for the hassle. It is a hassle. Here is a thread how I solved my installation issue:

Thanks! Using your instructions, I was able to successfully install C5 version 8 on HostGator, albeit in a slightly different manner, which I added to to instructions for other's benefit.
