Fatal Error installing 8.0.3 & 8.1.0

Permalink
I am getting a fatal error when trying to install 8.0.3 and 8.1.0 to my Network Solutions hosting package. While adding blocks, it gives an error that it cannot find a required file. See the attached screenshot from 8.1.0 for the full error message. I cannot figure out how to proceed.

Hi Jamie23,

It looks like you might be missing files.

How did you add the files to your web host?

Thanks for the reply.

I first downloaded the 8.1.0 .zip file, then I copied all of the files contained within it to the root directory of my website via FTP. I didn't get any errors along the way indicating that some of the files didn't make it.

So after the installation error, I wiped out that entire folder so I could start fresh. I also make a clean new database for it, then downloaded the 8.0.3 .zip file and did the same thing. I got the same error, but was unable this time to home in on the specific files it thought were missing.

I feel like I've followed the installation instructions to the letter, but I haven't seen this problem mentioned by any other uses, so it is my suspicion that I've done something incorrectly.

@Jamie23

I would try using the web host file manager to upload and extract the original ZIP file.

Thanks, I will give that a try!

Well, I gave this a try tonight and unfortunately had the same Fatal Error as the result. I'm pretty much at a loss for what to do next.

I believe that file is created on the fly when the site is being installed, are you sure that the permissions are set correctly?

I think you're thinking is right, hutman, about it generating the files while installing.

I did ensure that all my files were set to world writeable (CHMOD 777) including the subdirectories and such. But no matter what I do I'm still getting the same error. I have tried half a dozen times now, and am pretty much ready to just give up. My host doesn't give me a whole lot of control over things, so I'm wondering if they just have something locked down somewhere that I'm not finding. It doesn't seem like other installers are having this problem so I'm thinking it's got to be something on my end?
