First Concrete/ Linux Install

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I've been using concrete5 for a while now, but just did my 1st install in a linux environment and when I login to the dashboard, everything looks completely different then I'm used to. None of my how to docs that I have made for my clients are going to work.

Is there anyway to make the linux version of the dashboard look & behave like the dashboard that I'm used to on the windows servers?

All ideas welcome, thanks in advanced!

It looks like you downloaded the beta version of Concrete5 for your linux install. Please download the 5.6 version of Concrete5 and install it. Download is available at

Hope that helps.

Yep, looks like I grabbed 5.7.0b1 :( by accident.

Wow, that's a bummer. I really hope that they don't go to this configuration!!! The main reason I use c5 is because it is easy for my non technical clients to navigate, in my opinion that sidebar design is totally confusing and not user friendly. It's so much harder to see where you are dropping blocks etc. Guys, if your listening - if it aint broke don't fix it!!!

A now very distress concrete5 user :(

There are numerous topics and a whole section of the forum devoted to discussing 5.7. There is also still a lot of work going on over on github for this new revision (see link below).

While I'm not a part of the core team, I do understand how these changes seem drastic, but hang in there; I think that after a little bit of use it will feel just as intuitive as before and hopefully there will be some awesome documentation to help guide users through any uncertainty there might be.

It may also be a small comfort that the 5.6 branch is still supposed to be maintained for some period of time in parallel (I think?) with the 5.7+ versions, so that those on the older functionality / look & feel can continue using their websites and receiving critical updates.

P.S. Don't forget to mark an the answer so that others know your issue posted has been resolved.

Thanks, I will take a look at the GitHub link.

I know, I don't want to be reactionary - but when it took me over 5mins to figure out how to add a page to the sitemap I got really concerned! I hate to see c5 not learn for the disaster that we all know of as Windows8 - LOL

Thanks again, and I will read through some of the 5.7 doc when it comes out.
