Forgotten password

When I can't remember the password for edit website (for the dashboard) I get the opportunity to reset my password by entering my email address in a box and then press the button - - - but I don't get any email on my email account ???

What can I do to get a new password ?

You should look to solve the issue with getting the emails sent out correctly. There are a few possible reasons why this isn't happening, but usually I find that the site has probably sent the email correctly and the email has just been blocked somewhere along the line as spam - often by your ISP/email provider. Have you checked your junk mail? If the emails are not there, you are probably best talking to your hosting provider as it is often a configuration issue on the server.

If you have access to the site's database you can also change the password directly there - or - get access to the password reset email message that has the reset link in it...

Questions:
- Do you have access to the database via PhpMyAdmin?
- Which version of C5 are you using?

Hi drbiskit
I already have looked in the spam/junk map - it wasn't there.

Yes, I have access to PhpMyAdmin on one.com

The actual version is 5.5.2.1
Right now I'm going to test update from version 5.5.2.1 to 5.6 and then to 5.7 and so on to the newest 8.4.3 to how troubled it will be to update/upgrade

Hi - As John says below, if you look in the 'Logs' table in the database you should see the content of the password reminder email - look for a column called 'logText'.

As for updating the site - you should be able to auto update the site to 5.6, but there is no auto update beyond that to 5.7 and beyond, it is a manual process unfortunately. Make sure you backup your files and database before updating.

NB: See post here re: Concrete5.6 'End of life':

You can read the email and get the new password link from the Logs table of the database.
