Multiple sites, one database

Hi
I was wondering if it was possible in some way to host multiple sites in one database.
My reason is that if I'm buying databases from my host I'd like to minimise my costs and the sites I have planned will never use much space.
Another product I have used was able to prefix the table names with a site code so the table name.
