My concrete5 Sites URL update

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi I used a throwaway domain name for my site, but now I have a permanent domain name. However the My Concrete5 Sites page shows the old URL even if I "reconnect" the site.

Is it possible to change this URL?

you need to create a new project. Disconnect your site from the community and connect it again, it will create a new project with the new domain. Then you can detach licenses from the old project and add them to the new.

Thanks that worked great!

Your response sounds like it's related to my problem. I moved a URL to another URL as part of a rebranding. Everything on the site works for external visitors. I attempted to re-link the site to Concrete5 but it is will not recognize the new URL. If I release the site from Concrete5 along with the licenses for the theme I'm using, will the theme stop working?
I'm hesitant because I'm getting an "access denied" when I access the settings Icon top right.

When you release licenses and delete the project everything keeps working normally. What stops working are auto updates. Still I suggest disconnecting your site from the community first before removing the project.

I have a message in my control panel that says your site is connected to the concrete5 community (within the connect to community function). When I go there, the old URL shows up. I don't want to do anything to lose functionality of the site. It's working at the new URL and clients are visiting. If I disconnect the site from my concrete5 using the C5 projects panel will all the current functionality remain? My hope is that I can disconnect the site and then go back to my new URL control panel and reconnect and the new URL will propagate to my projects panel.

I'm looking at my projects page now. The action is "delete project". This will remove the old URL from the list. After this action, the URL won't appear in my projects list. My assumption is I'll have to release all themes and addons from the project, then "delete project", go the the new URL and re-connect to concrete5 and then reassign the licenses.

There's no real need to release themes and add-ons. This is what I did and it worked fine without any problems.

1. In Concrete5 community, just hit Delete Project.
2. Back in your website, log out, then log back in,
3. Go to the Dashboard > Extend concrete5 and it will tell you that it's not connected to the community.
4. Reconnect to the community.
5. Back in Concrete5 community, simply re-assign the licences to the project again.

This sounds like a different problem to the community. Which icon are you talking about? Is this in your website?
You need to log in as "admin" (which is the super-admin account that can do everything).
