My very first post :) I have installed quite a few PHP scipts and in particular several CMS/php scripts. I think I may a bad download. I downloaded several times, the latest being v5.1.

I renamed the index so that you may check that if in fact have all of the files. I do not see an install wizard nor instructions.

below is the experimental site:

http://www.mapcaststudio.com/concrete5.2.1/...

The index.php has been renamed: index1.php

Thank you,

Caps

If your installing on a sub folder, you don't have to rename your index.php file. Change it back and run the install script.

Let us know how it went.

I renamed it index1.php so those who were helping could see the folder and file structure - was thinking it was not complete.

The directory structure looks complete. So rename your index file and launch the install script...If you have all the right things (linux, apache, mysql, php) you should be good to go. Just make sure they are the latest versions. The only thing I can think of why it wouldn't run is some sort of server configuration burp.

So rename it, run it and lets us know what happened.

Hi Bill,

You only need to enter: index1.php and you will see the problem.

I can appreciate you looking at the directory structure and it appearing that it didn't look complete. A lot of empty folders and the sort. I did the same thing.

Believe me, rename the index1.php file back to index.php and run the index file. It will install....

There is NOTHING wrong with the directory structure from what I saw. Reading some of the help files will explain it. Just give it a go :)

"Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I got past this error by putting the following two lines into php.ini in the Concrete5 root:

suhosin.request.max_vars = 1024
suhosin.post.max_vars = 1024 "

So I create this file?

Hummm,

I have installed over 10 CMS scripts and never had this problem. I've tried to install this on 2 different host configs. One is a VPS (WAMP) and the other is a LAMP shared.

This is too bad, really wanted to dev widgets and mods for Concrete. Our company is the official developers for another CMS and wanted to add Concrete.

The eiProject Dev site will usher in a smart object container within the Tribiq CMS. By the use of Tribiq's API, eiProject can then maintain a Dev Community to then create widgets and modules.

I discovered Concrete and then ask our review board if we could also include Concrete. The vote was unanimous. With 2 out of 2 installs on different platforms failing, this is not encouraging, especially when you see how many other CMS installs were successful.

P.S. My thanks to both, Bcarone and Remo.

I have installed concrete5 on:

mediatemple(gs)
mosso shared(needed itk cluster due to server variables)
liquidweb vps
debug local on WAMP 2.0 on vista64.

For $100 you can probably get a lot more than $100 worth of labor out of someone on the core team setting up on your server. I would do it for free but it is not my expertise, I let server admins install something if I need it.

I would reupload the site again (you are unzipping on the server, right?)

You will be kicking yourself once 5.3 is released.

And by the way the dispatcher needs to be named index.php, if you rename it you also need to change the dispatcher filename in your config.php, not sure when this made it into concrete5 or if this is even fully in there, so leave it at index.php for now.

If your VPS is managed ask them to install it for you.

As you can see I am a developer, and if I need the assistance of someone else to setup the install, then I would rather decline. These matters would have been best solved early on. Again, I have only the other CMS successful installs to compare.

Yes, perhaps I will wait for the improved version.

Please note that most people never had any troubles installing concrete5. It's therefore quite hard to fix that problem.

If I could reproduce that problem, I would fix it immediately but the only thing I can do, is to guess what's wrong with your setup.

It works on every platform I'm using, debian, win32, win64, solaris..

Did you use ftp to install it? Connec to your server, using ssh and then "wget & unzip". Seems to be the safer way imho.

i think i also had this issue. I'm not 100% sure, i guess it was a problem during uploading via my ftp client, that didn't copied all files correctly. Just an idea

Yes I uploaded the entire zip via FileZilla, then unpacked it at the site.
