sitewide setting not working,

Long story short, I tried setting canological urls on and it busted the site, edited the file in the system to turn that off. Site came back, but the sitewide settings along with all other editing
menus are no longer working.
when you click up on the right I just get the dialog sitewide settings. I'm on 5.8
Site was working great until I screwed it up.

It sounds like when you turned on pretty urls it broke the website, did you clear the site cache? If it's still broken after clearing the cache it generally suggests there's an issue with the .htaccess. Here's some instructions to turn on pretty urls for Apache.
