Upgrade from 5.5.2.1 to 5.6: Out of Memory - but error is not logical!

Hi,

when I tried to upgrade I the this error after the first press of the "upgrade" button:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8192 bytes) in ... [here are actually different files when I give it another try]

Read exactle: allowed is 16777216 - and 8192 can not be allocated? Strange to me.
Has anyone else the same problem? ... Or even better ... a solution?

Olaf

Hi

this upgrade to 5.6 seems a problem that more (at this time at least 3 people) have - but mrzoidbergs link (see 1st link below) did not help for me: Still out or memory.

Here the links to the other threads:

Hi

I changed PHP memory from 16 MB to 32 MB - then the upgrade worked.

Hi Olaf,

Could you kindly let me know where or which file to change the memory
size?

Hi

for the latest upgrade I changed the memory size to 64 MB.

I used the backend of my website provider. There was simply a drop down box to do so.

Thanks ong. I've Bluehost (my hosting company) to increase the size for me and it worked.
