Upgrade from 5.7.5.13 to 8.1.0

So far I have made a full site backup using control panel. I had originally installed C5 using Softalculous.
My first question is ... should I upgrade using Softalculous or should I ungrade using the C5 control panel?
My second question is about updating my theme. I am using the Fundamental theme and as I understand the procedure is to update C5 first and then update the themes, is this correct?

I am not sure if there is a benefit to using the Softaculous installer over the built-in concrete5 dashboard update (the dashboard may offer the latest version before Softaculous). Since you have a full backup, you could try both and see if there were any issues.
Regarding updating themes, I am not aware of a required order when updating a theme and concrete5.
