Upgrade to 5.3.2

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade from my 5.1.1 version to 5.3.2. I set the site into Maint mode, then unpack the files, copy the concrete directory, change ownerships etc etc. I then try to access the upgrade page. Big PHP error occurs:

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'ADODB_Exception' with message 'mysql error: [1054: Unknown column 'pkgVersion' in 'field list'] in EXECUTE("select pkgID, pkgName, pkgIsInstalled, pkgDescription, pkgVersion, pkgHandle, pkgDateInstalled from Packages where pkgIsInstalled = 1 order by pkgID asc")\n' in /var/www/lateral-thought/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb-exceptions.inc.php:78\nStack trace:\n#0 /var/www/lateral-thought/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb.inc.php(1042): adodb_throw('mysql', 'EXECUTE', 1054, 'Unknown column ...', 'select pkgID, p...', false, Object(ADODB_mysql))\n#1 /var/www/lateral-thought/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb.inc.php(998): ADOConnection->_Execute('select pkgID, p...')\n#2 /var/www/lateral-thought/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb.inc.php(766): ADOConnection->Execute('select pkgID, p...', Array)\n#3 [internal function]: ADOConnection->Query('select pkgID, p...', Array)\n#4 /var/www/lateral-thought/libraries/database.php(73): call_user_func_array(Array, Array)\n#5 [internal function]: Database->__call('query', Ar in /var/www/lateral-thought/libraries/3rdparty/adodb/adodb-exceptions.inc.php on line 78

Though the migration should work for you, you are jumping a good amount of versions and it's possible something broke down there.

My suggestion a two parter. First, I believe it's imperative you file a bug about this here on the site. You may prevent other people from having the same issue on future releases.

Second, I think you should try upgrading to an intermediate version before going to 5.3.2, which may create the fields that seem to be missing.

Here's a link for 5.2.1:

Let us know how that goes and please don't forget to file this error as a bug by going to:

I'm already at 5.2.1 but I get the same error upgrading to 5.3.

Unknown column pkgVersion in field list.

I am using BlueHost as my hosting service, but I have SSH access so I don't mind changing something in order to update.

Please help me so I can use the add-on I bought in the marketplace which seems to only work with version 5.3

I've been getting a bunch of them sporadically, but now I cannot edit.

I use Bluehost, too.
