Upgrading Concrete Version to Version -- Proper Process

I am wondering what is the most effective and proper way to upgrade Concrete sites up through the versions. Several years ago, I decided to try to upgrade one of my client's website and it was disastrous... I had to revert back. I have not tried since with any of my client websites in fear of the same happening.

So what is the proper approach to upgrading versions? May run decide to what version the upgrade will go? Step by step... version to version?

Any help will be appreciated... Thanks! tga

It depends what version you are starting with and what version you want to end up with.

Concrete 5 is great CMS but upgrade is always a problem.

If you duplicate the site before, you can try and if everything is fine, you just have to connect the domain, change .htacces and just to pray

I have noticed that it appears as long as a site it connected with the Concrete5 community, the upgrades are happening to a degree. Although I have seen that many of the sites are still behind just a few increments... nothing too major.

So I guess I am good... My problem in the past was probably trying to upgrade the site up several version to the latest and it tanked.

Thanks for the help... tga
