Login gives black page on IE11

Trying to login to my site using IE11 just gives a black page. Anyone else had this issue?

and the same page in Firefox, the page is greyed out with no access to page functionality, but the page is visible (but greyed)

if I take the domain out of the compatibility view list it appears greyed out instead of black

I'd say you've got some borked custom javascript, php or CSS. Start looking for diagnostic messages in browser debug console, server error logs, c5 logs, etc.

It seems to be a known issue with C5 trying to contact the community site on login....it puts up an overlay as standard for some reason but can be worked around.
