what to do with the licences when my website is moved from sub domain to domain?

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi there,
We moved my test website (sub domain) to the live version (domain)
Everything is working fine.
But, what to do with the project name / licences. They are now standing at the test domain project but they are functioning now in my domain.
Is it a problem to let them just there ?
Or is it wise to move them ?

Thanks,
Stefan.

Hi,

if you log in to concrete5.org and go to My Account -> Projects, you can edit your old project and release all license from that project. Next edit your new project (make sure you connected the website to the community) and add the licenses to the project.

This way you'll receive updates for you themes / add-ons (it's always good to keep your add-ons updated)

Hope this helps,

Jordi

Hi Jordi,

I connected my new website to the community and I get the message that it is done successfully but when I go to my profile I don't find my project. So that is not good yet.

!! And an errors occurs when I try to open the 'extend concrete5' tab in my dasboard from my new website:

An unexpected error occurred.
file_exists(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/www/vhosts/stefanvandesande.nl/httpdocs/packages/audio_library.zip/controller.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/stefanvandesande.nl/:/tmp/)

!! And another new error occurs when I tried to approach my old test website, after installing an add-on in my new website...

Symfony\Component\ClassLoader\MapClassLoader::loadClass(): Failed opening required '/var/www/vhosts/stefanvandesande.nl/test.stefanvandesande.nl/packages/emirii_discussion_e_s_facebook_comments/controller.php' (include_path='/var/www/vhosts/stefanvandesande.nl/test.stefanvandesande.nl/concrete/vendor:.:')

So I am stuck in it now ...

What to do ??

Hi,

as for the first error, it seems you have a zip file (audio_library.zip) in your packages folder. Can you try removing that file temporarily from the packages directory and see if that fixes it?

As for the second error, it seems the "DiscussionES Facebook Comments" add-on files are missing from the packages directory. Try placing the files again in the packages directory ( you can download them again fromhttps://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/discussiones-facebook-c... if you can't find them).

Hi Jordi,

YEP, both errors are now gone. So that is something.

Now I looked to my extend concrete5 tab on my live website and saw that all my licences are available.

But the URL at the bottom is pointing to my test project ....

So what to do ??

Apparently C5 thinks my new website is the test version vice versa ?

Or shall I first release all licences from the old project ?
Then close the test project and connect my live website to the community ?

Yes, maybe you could try releasing all add-ons from your old website, deleting the project, and then connect your new website

Ok, lets TRY !!

I don't loose the licences and functionalities on my live site ?

But it feels more like shooting in the dark than modern technology

For this C5 is way too much adventuring, praying and hoping it will work ??

Hi,

sorry if my previous comment was too vague :)

So i'm not 100% what the issue is:

-> if your new webiste is not connected to the comunnity, then release the licenses from the old one, then connect your new website and assign the licenses. Licenses will not be lost: if you delete a project, they are simply released from the project for later use.

-> if your new webiste is connected to the community with licenses assigned, you don't need to do anything.

Hope this helps,

Jordi

Hi Jordi,

YES, it is working !!! ..... but other problems appeared now suddenly , don't know why.

With bringing all the licences to the live project there came out of the blue, several changes to my website, because of updates ?? No idea.

- One of the things is that I lost the copyright footer .....

- Another weird things is that suddenly pictures are now shown as # ,

- and image gallery's are away or show very wrong ....

Sometimes I get so tired of C5 ... and I am not a programmer

Any ideas,

I hope I don't disturb you too much ??

No worries, glad to help.

Updates are not applied automatically: you simply receive a notice that a new update is available, and then you can choose to apply it, so i dont think that's the issue.

Maybe you could try clearing the cache. Also if you want to post your website URL, we can have a look.

Hi Jordi,
Clearing the cash is a good starter.

My website is stefanvandesande.nl

One of the problems is on the page gallery where an image gallery is installed but I see only a white screen and my header info is changed

the second problem is the footer don't show up any more my copyright info which is in the copyright.php file in the theme/elements map
