A link to the file manager?

Hi Guys,

Is there any way I can give a user who is not administrator a direct link to only the file manager without having to grant access to the dashboard menu? Is there a way to link to the file manager via the sitemap or any other method?

At the moment the only way I can get to the file manager is to attempt to edit a page -> edit a block -> click on the image icon -> click on the search icon.

The user needs the ability to get directly to the file manager without having to edit any pages. But i don't want to give them access to the admin dashboard menu. Ideally I'd like to see a link in the sitemap or possibly on the top main menu bar.

Is there a way to do this without having to customise any PHP?

Thanks in advance

Yes, Have a look at the permissions system. There are some docs about it on this site.
You can set permissions to dashboard pages with the sitemap.

Hi WillemAnchor,

Thanks for your reply.

I've gone into the advanced permissions for the file manager (in sitemap -> show system pages -> file manager) and enabled 'View' and 'View in Sitemap' for that user group. This has no effect at all. The sitemap remains the same when logged in as that user...

Can you point me to the specific docs? I've combed all the docs and I can't find anything in relation to this...

I believe this video will give you a better understanding of how to use advanced permissions.

Thanks for that... Appreciated... I've been through all of these steps though. I still can't seem to get the File Manager link attached to the Sitemap...

I can only get to it by using the search tool at the top.

Did you check index.php/dashboard/system/files/permissions and give some permissions to the user ?

Also, double check if you really did save the permissions (since you need to hit save in the sub-dialogs too)
