I built a few websites using another platform years ago ... but I can't even get started here ...

After creating a few blank pages ... I tried to install the header image ...

... but the images aren't available on the "choose image" inset ...

... even though I can see them in the file-manager ...

... and if I try to upload one again ... and get to the "edit properties and sets" inset ...

... nothing happens ... and I end up in an empty file-manager page ...

... even though I now have two (or more) copies of the same image in the file (when I go there using the file-manager link ...

... suggestions?

... thanks ...

Hey IAPFC5

As @MrKDilkington said more detail would be nice. Plus a link of to the site would also help so we can take a look at your problem. Creating site wide content areas are pretty easy. However, I think we might need to start at the basics on how to a site.

Check if you have any filters enabled above file list in File Manager (like Fileset selected etc.)

This is really simple stuff … but I’m just missing something … I’ve attached 2 images … each with four images showing the steps I’ve taken …

Image 1 (1 - upper-left quadrant) shows what’s in the file-manager: 2 images and 1 sub-file

Image 1 (2,3 & 4) show the clicks I made to insert an image block which gets me to the file-manager …

Image 2 (5,6 & 7) just show that there are no images to select in the image file or sub-file …

What am I doing wrong? … this should be so simple and easy …

In screenshot 1 of your screenshots, you have two images in the file manager, both show a size of "0.00 KB". In screenshot 4, the two images are not displayed in the file manager modal. This might also be happening to the images in your folder.

There looks to be something wrong with the images or something is happening during the upload and or processing of the images.

I would try uploading another image into the file manager and check if it is also "0.00 KB" in size. Please make note of any errors - on the page and in the browser console.

Thanks ... I never noticed that the images have zero kilobytes ...

... the thing is ... I've embedded some of those images in text blocks and they appear just fine ...

... the website is http://www.iapf.africa ...

... (though it seems to appear first as some sort of master-file ... that's another problem) ...

Were you able to upload a new image and see if it uploaded correctly or with errors?

Looking at your site, it looks like thumbnails are not being created:
<picture>
    <!--[if IE 9]><video style='display: none;'><![endif]-->
    <!--[if IE 9]></video><![endif]-->
    <img src="/conc8/application/files/7915/0223/1864/Poachers_4ca.jpg" alt="Poachers 4ca.jpg">
</picture>

- This image is large enough to trigger additional thumbnails to be created in a default concrete5 install using the Elemental theme. There should be additional "source" elements inside the picture tag.
