Some of my clients use bluehost and its was a pain getting the htaccess file to work correctly and I really don't like how their cpanel is setup. But that's just me. I like InMotion hosting the best. My InMotion C5 sites works like a champ right out the box.

If you are going to hire a developer to create a site, wait until you have candidates for the work and ask them. Don't buy hosting first, and then hear from your developer you should have bought something else. Its not just the host, its also which of many packages a host offers.
