Change Slideshow Pics & Photoblog

Sorry for the newbie questions:

1) Where are images appearing in the built-in 'slideshow' actually stored?

2) Also, is there a recommended photoblog add-on available...one that would let my users do their own editing?

Thanks!

use the file manager... you get there from the photoslideshow, or from the dashboard

not sure what #2 means.

Ah, yes. I'm familiar with File Manager, but don't understand how the Slideshow images are stored. There must be a folder or directory where the included Slideshow program pulls images from. Where is it please?

the file manager stores files in a complex sub directory structure under /files

you shouldnt mess around in there. adding stuff there via ftp wont make it show up in the file manager and you can swap files out through the file manager.

i dont understand what you're trying to do, but im wondering if you're going about it the right way.

Ok, you're right...I'm just not asking the question properly. Here goes:

My new C5 site came with a 'Slideshow' sample. It's a link on a page called Examples.

The slideshow currently consists of pictures of sheep, wildflowers, and a couple other scenics.

I'd like to 1) change the photos, and 2) have other slideshows on other pages with different photos, and 3) hopefully give others the ability to change those photos.

Haven't come across any documentation yet. I'd be happy to RTFM if I could find one.

Thanks so much for your help!

Take your page with the slideshow into edit mode. Click on the slideshow, and choose edit. Add or remove images, if needed, upload them right there. If you want a new slideshow somewhere, edit that page, and add a slideshow block wherever, then choose your images.

Should be dead simple.

I too wish to make this change. How do I make the change is that is is reflected on every page ie the The thing is I am using Black Accent and the slideshow is part of the template of every page. I wish to change the slideshow so I can add an image with site name and logo. I want this change to happen across the board. If i make the change the way you suggest this will only happy on each page that I physically change. Correct?

Hi I have been editing the slide show file, selecting my picture files from file manager (sizes are around 12 MB) save them but they don't save to the slideshow. I exit edit mode and accept the new version for publication but there is no change. What am I doning wrong, thanks. Brian

There may be other issues, but with 12MB files just about any web server will seize up. Think about the size you want to display at and shrink the files to somewhere in that ballpark (same size or bigger, not smaller) before you upload them. Then upload the pre-shrunk files.

It may not be your only problem, but at least it will eliminate something that is sure to be somewhere in the chain of problems.
