Changing column widths - won't save

I am brand new to C5 ... just started working with it on Localhost today. I created an empty page, and assigned a 2 column layout (free-form layout) to the Main area. I have it unlocked so I should be able to drag and drop the widths of my columns, right? When I click on Edit Container Layout for a column, and drag the column to the width I want, and click Update Layout, it doesn't save - it reverts back to the equal 2 column layout that I started with.

I can't post a URL because it's on my local PC.

Thank you.

I can confirm this (but don't use it myself). Have you tried using the 'Twitter Bootstrap' layout, that works okay.

Steve, I'm in edit mode right now and I'm going to create a new column layout with Grid: Twitter Bootstrap. However, I do not see a way to be able to adjust the column widths. Is the free-form option the only option which allows you to adjust column widths?

Thank you.

Click the 'up' arrow next to Columns to show maybe two columns. Then grab and drag one of the squares over the green line.

Hi ssailer,

I can confirm this.

- add Free-Form Layout to area
- set two or more columns
- click lock icon to unlock column width
- resize columns widths
- click Add Layout
- edit the container layout
- resize columns widths
- click Update Layout

I have made a bug report for you both to confirm.

I'm using 5.7.5.3, however I'd rather not have the 'Free-Form' available anyway as it is not responsive.

The free-form layout is not responsive? So it formats it in fixed pixels rather than percentages? Thank you for letting me know. As I said, I'm so new to this!

@ssailer

Free-Form Layouts are percentage based, but they do not change at different breakpoints. So content can be squished as screens get narrow.

So, is this a bug - should it save the format I choose?
