Copy the Home Page

Permalink 2 users found helpful
It might be very simple, however i can't get to copy the front page.

I click on it on the sitemap and select Move/Copy..

But whenever i click after, on the homepage itself or a chile, it refuses to copy it ("You may not move/copy/alias the chosen page(s) to that location.").

Isn't there a way i can get my frontpage copied ?

I'm trying to use the internationalization block, but can't chose the top homepage as the root for the main language, so i have to have my real homepage beneath the top homepage... which i can't do as i can't either copy or move my homepage..

Any Help appreciated !
Thanks,
Gloglo

Looks to me the only solution at this time is the copy to clipboard method. Copy all the block from your new home to the clipboard then delete the old home pg blocks reconfigure the old home page design to the new one and replace the blocks in your new home pg via clipboard. took me about five min to move 11 block.

I couldn’t do this either so I just built a mirror of it by hand.

And that's what I ended up doing too. Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I am learning about concrete5. It was designed for geeks and that's it. If you don't know anything about html/css/php You're sol. I am trying to accomplish that same thing as gloglo. How about a concrete5 built more user friendly next time?

I also wish to copy the HOME page for content trialing - because I have twice messed up the HOME page code through my trial and errors in such a way that the EDIT Header was no longer editable and being a Global area could not be removed by Versions. So without knowledge of how to edit the source code to remove the error I had to unlicense, uninstall, re-install, re-licence and then recreate my whole website content and style!

So please team Concrete5 allow the option to copy HOME page!

You can turn the problem the other way round. Create a page elsewhere that will be your pseudo 'home' page.

On the actual home page, use Global Areas blocks or Universal Content Puller to pull the respective areas from the pseudo home page.

http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/global-areas/...
http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/universal-content-pulle...

You can now copy the pseudo home page, replace it with another page by renaming pages in the site map, or whatever you like.

You can also first copy the blocks to the clipboard and then paste them on the desired page.
