Custom Archive Page

Has anyone had much luck creating a custom archive page?

By this, I mean a simple page, where you can define a certain year and month for a certain page type i.e. blog? I ask this as I am having big issues with the Pro Blogs archive, where it once you click on the month, it is showing all the page creating in that month (blogs and other page types) whereas I only want blogs (ProBlog_Posts)

Anyone overcome similar issues?

I've run into this same issue before, if I remember right it was an issue with the settings of the listing block, can you see if it is set to only display Blog page types?
