Exclude From Search Index

Why do pages that have Exclude From Search Index checked off as an attribute still show up in the site search? Am I missing something? How do I make it so a page doesn't show up when you search for it in the "site search."

Also.. While I'm at it.. Why do spaces cause the site search not to work? If I do a search for training onhttp://www.citysidecorp.com I see the page that's not supposed to be showing up. If I do a search for "training videos" it doesn't.

I had to pay a programmer to delete the site index and rebuild it.. No idea why that had to be done or whether or not that actually fixed the issue that made it happen in the first place..

Does anyone know of a site search add-on that actually works? The standard one not only shows a blank page when someone types in a keyword combination that isn't indexed.. but it obviously has some issues with excluding certain things from the site search itself. Let me know..

I did release a Instant Search add-on a while back. It still relies on the Search Index, but should return better results and also notifies nicely if no results are found. As a bonus, it functions like Google Instant Search.

5.4.1 had some bugs in the search routines. so maybe updating to the latest version might help.
