Just wondering -- did this ever get fixed?

I realize this was posted way back in 2012, but I am having this exact issue, and this discussion came up first when I was searching for a possible solution.

I've attached a screenshot of the welcome screen; I've highlighted the problem areas.

Along with the "cannot retrieve data..." message, the three blocks on the right side are completely blank. Also, sometimes when I login, the welcome screen doesn't even bother showing up at all.

The weirdest thing of all, though, is that it's only on this particular site that this problem happens. On all the others, everything's fine.

C5 version is the latest stable release.... not sure of the exact to-the-last-decimal-point number, but it's the last 5.6.x before it switches over to 5.7. Machine is Win7 x64.
