image alt tags entered in File Manager not updating on site?

I'm trying to improve SEO and was told to enter alt tags for all images used on my site. I understand that in C5 this is done by editing the "title" field for images under Properties in the File Manager. I am able to do that just fine, but the code on my pages does not show the changes, even after I've cleared the C5 and browser caches. Any ideas?

I'm wondering, if the alt tags are not entered when the images are first uploaded, and the images have already been placed in blocks (I use both image blocks and content blocks), could it be that I need to go back in and delete the previously placed images and re-insert them after the alt tags have been applied in File Manager? I sure hope not as that'd be quite a chore.

Hi there, you dont need to remove and replace the images, just place your site in edit mode click the image and select "Edit" from this menu just place your alt text in the "Alt text/caption" box.

EDIT: sorry forgot to say if you are changing the titles in the file manager and they are not changing on the site, then clear your Concrete5 cache, from systems and settings, you may also need to clear your web browsers cache too.

Thanks for replying. That looks to work well for image blocks, but what about images inserted into content blocks? I can't see where to edit that field, that's why I thought I had to go thru file manager.

As I mentioned in my post, I did clear the c5 cache and browser cache after editing the image title in File Manager, but the code on the site still did not update. Any other idea?

Bumping, still looking for some help here as I've been told this is important for SEO.

No matter what I've tried, I cannot get an image title entered via the File Manager to show up in the page source when the image is inside of a content block. I've cleared the C5 cache and emptied the browser cache, but the code still shows the filename as the alt tag. Anybody?

I can confirm that there seems to be a bug in the Content block. The Image blocks can handle title changes correctly, but Content blocks do not. As a workaround, if you open up the content block in edit mode, remove the image and add it again, the title/alt will be updated. However, I guess it should be expected to work without adding images again.

I tried this on a site with 5.5.2.1

Thanks, I thought that was the case. Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon. I can delete/replace the images, but it's a lot of work and I wanted to make sure there was no other way before going down that road.

Has anyone reported this bug yet? I've recently run into the same problem and it is very frustrating!
