Image upload problems

Hi there,

I'm new to Concrete 5 and I've been having some issues with the uploading of images via File manager.
The file manager seems to upload the image file just fine (no error messages) but the broken image icon appears once uploaded both when viewing the image and when i try and place it on the website.

Hopefully someone can help me out as I've been trying to solve this problem for the past few days.

I am running Concrete 5.4.1.1 using Google Chrome.
The image I am trying to upload is a 564kb jpg width 800 height 192

Ive attached some screen shots to show you whats happening.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried clearing the cache? Clear the cache in Concrete5 dashboard and in Chrome settings and see if that clears it up

Thanks for the reply. I just tried clearing the Cache for both Concrete 5 and Google chrome. But I still have the same problem.

Any other suggestions?

If you right click where the image should be and click view image in new tab, does the image load?

Nope I still get the same broken icon as in the files attached in the original post. The only time i can see the image through concrete 5 is when I edit a block with text in it and add an image. I can see it in the preview but once I click update, it does not appear in the block i just get the broken image.

It's really confusing, because it clearly upload the image but does not display it.

I don't really know what else it could be then. What file format is it? I'm thinking that maybe its a problem with the file if you can't even open the file in a new tab. But you say you can see it in block preview mode, so clearly that isn't it. Are you using the default image block that comes preinstalled in Concrete?

I've tried it with various image sizes all have been jpeg's.

When I right clicked the broken image and opened a new tab it went to 'http://andre-pereira.co.uk/files/' and got the error message 'This webpage is not found' 'Error 6 (net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND): The file or directory could not be found.'

In terms of the blocks I am using the blocks that came with concrete 5 'plain yogurt' theme.

The image is definitely there as when i click on it in the file manager and view it i can download it and the image is fine.

Do you think installing an older version of concrete 5 would help?

Do you have permissions on the file folder?

What is your max upload size, should say when you are opening images, below the upload box.

I only get this when adding images over my allowed limit of 2mb or images over 4000 pixels

You should be able to bypass this if you upload them to your incoming folder and import them from the "upload multiple"->"add from incoming"

I have permissions to the folder.

My upload file limit is 8Meg and the images I've tried to upload are under 4000 pixels.

I also tried importing them from incoming.

I think i may try to either re-install or use an older version of concrete 5 and see if I have any success.

If you guys have any other suggestions then they would be greatly appreciated.

An older version should not make a difference, re-installing may help? but shouldn't

Are you able to rescan the image, its possible its something to do with the permissions on the files folder? maybe even the php execution is timing out(again this should not be the case with a small image)

Can you upload the images to our demo site?

username is demo
password is demo

I tried re-installing but that did not help. I even tried an older version (just in case)...but no luck.

How do I rescan the image? (as in upload it?)

I checked the files folder permissions and there are no restrictions on the folders.

I tried uploading to the demo site. And it worked.

Now all i have to do is make it work on my site =S

i just realised how to rescan....still didn't work

You say your \files dir permisions are right but are they set to chmod 777 recursive to sub-dir and files, if not try this through filezilla or whatever ftp client you use and then try rescanning the images.

Setting the /files folder to chmod 777 recursive to sub-dir and files has fixed the problem.

Thank you all for your help and support

Right click on the files folder. Select permissions. Check all boxes including the recursive box. See attachment:

Thanks! I tried it and rescanned, but nothing. I can't even preview the images, not even the ones the template includes by default. :&

Try clearing your browser cache and the Concrete5 cache from the Dashboard. Also, have you tried a new test image upload to see if it is completely broken or just the old images are broken.
