"Page Properties" [Save] and [Cancel] sometimes not functioning...?

When I try to edit the properties of a page, I open the "Page Properties" window. Everything APPEARS normal, and I can write changes to the various parameters I want, but then when I click [Cancel] or [Save], nothing actually happens.

The buttons receive a highlight and undergo their cute little animations, but no action is actually taken. No Flash spinner appears, and no changes are saved to the page. The only way I can dismiss that window is by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner, which saves no changes, BUT throws the page into EDIT mode, which I have to go an manually undo each time.

The first time I tried this was editing the page's properties from the Full Sitemap. Fail condition.

The second time I tried it was from a Flat View Site Map. Fail condition.

The third time I tried it was from the actual page, where I hovered over the Edit button, but actually clicked "Properties." (I was warned "Note: Since you haven't checked this page out for editing, these changes will immediately be approved.") Fail condition.

I sure could use a tip or a hint or just knowing what the heck's going on!

Thanks!

Some more notes:

This problem is intermittent, but appears much more often than not, and when it appears, it appears in big chunks. That is to say, it doesn't go away just because I refresh the page. It appears in Firefox on a Windows machine, as well as Chrome. In Internet Explorer, the whole site mechanics are tinker-toyed, but I'm not worried about that.

I did not move my installation.

I did not have this problem before the last big update (the one that changed the UI).

I tried flushing the cache.

My C5 version is 5.5.1 and that appears to be up-to-date.

I tried using only the keyboard for navigating to the buttons. Same fail condition.

The buttons are not MISSING, they just don't appear to do anything when clicked.

Further updates:

Still non-functioning buttons.

I also tried using Safari to log into the site, from my iPad and the exact same thing is experienced.

Last new thing I installed was ProEvents, but the developer assures me this is not the issue. (I'd take this line out, but wouldn't want to cause confusion by the response below).

As per instructions here: http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/introduction/common-troubles...
I cleared the local browser cache, cleared the site's cache, reindexed the search engine, disabled pretty URLS, and my site seems to be up-to-date.

What am I missing? This used to work.

Just for everyone else's benefit,

there's not possibility that ProEvents had any effect on the sitemap and page properties. Just so we're clear on that.

I do recall a bug in 5.5.1, but I thought that was fixed? you may try grabbing the latest gitHub versino and seeing if the bug is still there.

"you may try grabbing the latest gitHub version and seeing if the bug is still there."

Unfortunately, this is a little bit beyond my knowledge.

1.) go here:https://github.com/concrete5/concrete5...
2.) click the "zip" button in the header
3.) rename the "concrete" folder in your site to "concrete_old".
4.) take the "concrete" folder from that zip file and upload it to your site.

if something goes really wrong (which it wont) then you would just remove the one up uploaded and rename the old one back to "concrete"

Neat! I'll try that next.

After the site comes back up, as now it appears to have completely freakin' failed.

(grr.....)

This is ridiculous.

The [Cancel] and [Save] buttons worked last night for about half an hour, and then stopped again.

Is there any way to edit a page's properties other than using the Page Properties interface?

Once again, I had maybe fifteen minutes of functionality, and then this problem occurs again.

Any advice or suggestions would be welcome.

I am having the same issues. No idea why (yet), but will keep you posted. Started happening this afternoon. I have cleared cache, etc. I am running on Dreamhost, and a few times tonight I have seen the site render without CSS on the Modal window that allows for Page Properties. This may be a Dreahost issue as I can't seem to log in via SSH.

I am running the latest C5 (just upgraded tonight), and all plugins up to date that I can see.

SOLVED (I hope)

1. Go into Dreamhost's panel and edit the domain that hosts the C5 site.

2. Under "Web Options" there is a checkbox for "Page Speed Optimization". Uncheck it.

3. Save these changes and wait the 5-10 minutes for the changes to go live as Dreamhost indicates. I always wait 20 min.

4. Now try editing page properties - it works!

... Or at least it's working for me!

I'll give it a try, too.

I changed a bunch of things at the same time and the issue went away, but I can't exactly narrow down the thing that actually solved it.
