Is running c5. I have had a few hosting setups I have tested with C5, and my recommendations are:

Here at getconcrete5.com, auto codebase updates, I mean really that has to be worth its weight in gold.

Also, media temple grid server for $20 a month works decently well, and Mosso also works really well but you have to cname to a specific IP address for an experimental cluster to get it running over there.

I tried to leave mosso and they took a bunch off of their hosting so I stuck with them, I can offload most website issues to them using their tier1 support for $3 a month a client, and if for some reason I wanted to do billing through them that is also an option but a bit pricey at another $3 a month.

if that's what you're telling me to do. The vps hosting solution I have works great for me and performance has not been an issue... until I tried Concrete5.

So... my question remains... is this a C5 issue? Is there some tweaking that I need to do that isn't documented?

There shouldn't be any tweaking needed out of the box, but since there are many reasons why things could be loading slow, a link or more information about your hosting environment would be very helpful!

My bad... it turns out it was purely coincidental that my server was maxing out cpu use and I didn't know it. Fixed the problem and now C5 runs quite frisky.

Yeah it runs swimmingly on a lot of things where you would think it would be slow :).

I'll have to try a VPS after i get tired of my current hosting.
