rich text editor diappeared

Hi,
My editor - rich text editor has disappeared. I used it one day then the next day there was an update to elemental theme and an update to concrete5 up from 5.2.0 to 5.2.1.

I upgraded the elemental theme and them manually upgraded concrete5 to newest version. i had to do manual as the auto update kept stating page does not exist.
Now when i add a content block the page goes grey and nothing happens, i have to refresh the screen and the page reloads.
This only happens to text block as i can add an image block and save the page, edit page and delete and save removing the image.

When i use google chrome and have Inspect open looking at console i see this when page is opened in edit.
GEThttp://website...../crete/index.php/dashboard/home?_ccm_dashboard_e... 404 (Not Found)

next, when i add a text block i get this:

I looked at the last line and saw Tooltips.. i logged in to settings and turned tool tips off and the editor loads up...

so, dont enable tooltips... why is it there then?

still getting this though in console... can it be ignored? or does it need fixing?

Hi davetl,

Have you cleared your browser cache and concrete5 cache after updating?
davetl replied on at Permalink Reply
Thanks for reply,
yes, I usually use Firefox. I had cleared the cache, then i fired up chrome and it did the same thing.
My first problem was to do with enabling Tooltips, it kills the rich text editor. So, when i disabled it it worked, but i still have the second error.
GEThttp://website..../crete/index.php/dashboard/home?_ccm_dashboard_ex... 404 (Not Found)

so, i dont know if i can safely ignore this or it has to be cured.

Testing on a fresh install of 8.2.1, I cannot reproduce the issue. I enabled "Enable Prominent Toolbar Tooltips" and am able to use the rich text editor.

Are you using any custom blocks, a custom theme, or other custom code?
davetl replied on at Permalink Reply
Hi,
No, my template is fundamental and all i did was enable tooltips and text editor didnt appear.
the whole page was in edit mode but text editor didnt appear.
to reproduce - have fundamental installed. go to settings and rich text. tick to enable tool tips, save and then edit a page and drop in a text block then the whole window ghosts and nothing appears.
now if you refresh it goes back to edit mode without text area.
go back to settings and disable tool tips and save, then the editor appears when adding a text block.
very odd..

@davetl

If you enable the default Elemental theme, do you still experience the issue with tool tips?

I don't have that custom theme to test with. I recommend contacting the theme developer.

I had heaps of issues getting tooltips to behave themselves due to conflicts between c5's customised version of bootstrap and the full version of bootstrap. I wonder whether this is behind the problem here.
