Selecting Videos/Files

We are looking to use C5 as an intranet/training site. We are looking to install C5 on our XServer which already is running as our file server for these types of documents.
Given that we have a lot of videos and other files stored on this server (not in a web folder however) what's the best way to select them and use them within C5?
Do I have to add each video/PDF, etc. via C5?
Can I move a directory of videos into a folder that the web server can access, and then have C5 access them there using some other mechanism? (raw html?)
Is there some other way to do this?

you can build a single pages that reads all the files from a directory and shows them in a list or you can build your own block or you can use the existing block and asset library which works as well.....
