Sidebar theme splash photo removal

Just added the sidebar theme and am trying to switch out the splash photo with another photo. When I go into edit mode, the photo doesn't highlight like the other elements on the page. I looked in the file manager thinking I could rename my preferred photo to the one currently in the splash area but don't see it there. How do I remove the photo?
I think this is a theme related question that might be answered more effectively in the Sidebar theme support page.
