sitename and blocks in dashboard
Permalinkhttp://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/editors/edit-or-remo...
found blocks/stacks in the dashboard, edited sitename but it didn't save edits (in this case color). Cleared cache beforehand.
I accidentally deleted sitename stack from global area, so I need to get that back first.
2 questions here, I guess- getting back sitename stack and editing it. The C5 platform was installed from simple scripts by my webhost.

Thanks a heap

I'm confused now. after adding a couple of new pages, global sitename stack again appears on new pages (but it doesn't save edits). On default pages an edited version of sitename appears which is the result of adding a sitename stack.
This is probably a hard one to answer...

The above is a method to assign a block to the site name global area and keeps it in a stack so you can manage it easier. Essentially the same as the stack you deleted.
A little more detailed run down,
1. Create A stack, name it site name or anything you want
2. Click on the stack you just created
3. Add a block to the stack such as image for your site logo or text or whatever else you want to use.
4. Click on the block that has your logo or whatever you put in it
5. Choose custom template instead of edit from the options
6. A text field will pop up,, write My_Site_Name into it and save and approve changes (a little approve changes button on the stack)
7. This block is now your site name block which is in your new stack.
* The block is now your site name block, not the same as a site name stack, but very close. If you delete the block and use a different block as your site name you will have to repeat the custom template - My_Site_Name process.
Thanks a lot

Just thought I'd let you know that this may be a more widespread issue....
:)
Thanks for the easy to follow instructions. Now, if I could just delete those dotted lines...
Take a look here for info on removing the dotted lines http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/usage/increase-screen-res...
You can either replace the dotted line with another graphic or remove it completely several different ways. There is also a screen shot showing exactly where to add the css to hide it.
Capitalization and underscores are needed.
Now this stack contains a site name block which will be applied to the site name global area. Screen shots attached.
Its not normal to not have any stacks but the above should help as a band aid.
