super user account

I'm a non-techie new C5 user who needs help editing the "super user account" settings. A C5 designer I recently hired to help me migrate from Wordpress to C5, and who has since disappeared, set himself up as the super user account, and I can't figure out how to remove his email address from it. Super user accounts seemed to be locked-in.

Can anyone please help me?

I am guessing you don't have the developers credentials to access the account and change the email via the dashboard.

If you have access to the mysql db this is an easy fix. Navigate to the "Users" table and modify the administrator email to yours. Now go back to your site and reset the password, you will get the reset email.

Once logged in go to the User and Groups section of the dashboard and change this to a more recognizable password.

Most hosts have phpmyadmin (mysql db admin tool) installed or accessible through the control panel.

Thank you very much. This helped a lot. But since I'm not a "techie," I still can't figure out how to change the super user account password. I figured out how to change the super user account email address (and password) using the mysql db admin tool, but that account still isn't editable in the C5 dashboard. Did my (former) designer screw this up by making his account the super user account for my website? I don't like the idea that he may still be able to log into and make changes to my website.

You can't just change the password through the database as it is encrypted. Now that you have changed the email for the super user account go to log into your website but don't enter your credentials. Enter the email in the "forgot your password" input field.

This will send you a new password via email - login with this.
