Synching database from old Concrete site to new concrete website

We have had a website on Concrete5 for quite a number of years.
# concrete5 Version
Core Version - 5.7.5.13
Version Installed - 5.7.5.6
Database Version - 20160615000000

We plan to rebuild the website from the ground up using the latest version of Concrete.
However the existing website has a lot of content in it that we need to transfer to the new website.

Is there a tool or recommended way to try and sync the data from the existing database to the new database?
Maybe some kind of middleware where we can map the data?

Just wondering id anyone else has had to do this and what they did.

Many Thanks

Why not upgrade the existing site to concrete 8.5.5 ?

I didn't think that was possible from version 5.7.5.13

Oh wow. Thats great news. My dev team had told me that they had tried to upgrade but said they were having issues. So I think they just assumed it was not possible.

I will let them know that it should be possible and if they run into issues I will get them posted up on this forum.

thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

Yeah, my advice is:
Copy the files and database to a dev server and do the upgrade sequentially until you get to 8.5.5.
If you want this done for you, get in touch via PM

A sequence that worked for me was:

5.7.5.13 => 8.2.1 => 8.3.1 => 8.4.x => 8.5.x

You might have the occasional error because of database foreign key checks but that's easy enough to fix.
