Tags for images in file manager

I see in the file manager that every file (or image in my case) has it's own set of properties, one of those being "tags".
I also see that this field is limited in length, though I can find no documentation stating what the limit is.
Does anyone know if there is a way to increase or lift this limit so that we can enter more text into the tags field?

Thanks,
S.

The db field is a varchar 255, so you have a maximum of 255 characters or it will either get truncated (if well coded), or break (if not so well coded).

That 255 will also include the white space or line breaks that separate individual tags.

Thanks, John.
Do you know what role these tags play?
Are they the ones that factor in for images SEO? Or do they only have an internal c5 function?

You can filter/search on them in the file manager. They may also be used by some image, slide and galley blocks.

For SEO, most blocks use the image title as an alt or title tag. I don't think c5 file tags have any relevance to SEO, though maybe an SEO expert can post and correct me if I am wrong on that.

Thank you, John.

I hope someone out here can shed more light on this matter for us.
